Malahide RFC’s Business Scrum returns again on Wednesday 1st February @7.30pm to offer local businesses an opportunity to network and hear some great motivational speakers.

Our guest speakers this year include ‘Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ finalist David Walsh from Netwatch and former Irish Rugby International Mick Galwey.

This is a free event and with over 200 local businesses expected to attend this will provide a great opportunity to grow your business in these challenging times.

Malahide played out the last of their Leinster League fixtures before the five week break for the Six Nations on Sunday. The visitors to Estuary Road were North Kildare who have struggled a little this season but were fresh off the back of a moral lifting victory over title chasing Kilkenny last weekend.

Malahide elected to play into the wind in the first period and North Kildare were quickly on the attack. As Malahide were caught offside early on North Kildare established an early 3 point advantage. Malahide soon got into their stride and a number of good surges brought them close to the North Kildare line. The Irish Wolfhounds (Ireland A’s) will prepare for their game against the England Saxons in Malahide RFC next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (24th, 25th and 26th of January 2012). The first Session on Tuesday will take place at 3.30pm and 11.00am on Wednesday and Thursday. So come along and watch the present and future stars of Irish rugby train at our club.

The Irish Wolfhounds join a prestigious list of teams that have already used our world class facilities including the Italian and Welsh national teams and professional teams such as Leinster, Ospreys and recently Aironi Rugby.

The President’s Dinner has been arranged for Friday 9th March (night

before Scotland v Ireland game).   We are celebrating our 90th year at

Malahide RFC  this year.    This special night will consist of a four

course dinner, with excellent menu choices and table service.

Drinks reception at 7.30  sharp, entertainment will be provided by a

live band, so you can dance the night away till late to all your

favourite music.   We will  also have a raffle with a number of spot

prizes.

Tickets for the night are €50 each and €40 for students,  dress code

is formal / club tie

Malahide travelled to Portarlington on Sunday knowing that they would need a performance from the top drawer against the League leaders who had yet to lose at home this campaign. The home team started quickly and were in possession in the Malahide half in the opening minute. As Malahide were still trying to find their feet the Portarlington centre slipped a couple of tackles and was in under the posts. The conversion was missed but there was a sense that this could be a day for a big score for the home team.

They were very quickly back on the offensive and they stretched the Malahide defence to the maximum. Some great last ditch tackling from Neil Waters, Brian Geraghty and Rory O’Driscoll kept the home side out but for ten solid minutes they battered the Malahide line and should the odd pass have stuck they would surely have added to their lead. Credit to Malahide who did not panic and they slowly lifted the siege and made their way up the pitch. Indeed it was the visitors who now started to press as they gained some dominance up front.
