Malahide U16s advanced to the last four of the Leinster Schools Youth Cup but were made to fight right until the final whistle by a fired up Clontarf side at Castle Avenue. Finding themselves 10 points down at one stage, Malahide were forced to dig deep in a performance that never reached the level of their win over league winners DLSP last week. Lost against a very big and strong Greystones team. We were missing some of our regulars and unfortunately went down 38-17. We were under pressure from the start but stayed in touch with the game through tackling anything in front of them and some great breaks. Read the rest of this entry »

The Malahide Community School Junior Rugby team won the Leinster Schools Junior Development Shield on Wednesday when they defeated St Mels from Longford 24 – 21 in an enthralling encounter.

St Mels were first to score with a well struck penalty which was soon followed by another giving the Longford team a   6 – 0 lead.

Malahide U16s will face Clontarf in the Quarter Finals of the Leinster Schools Youth Cup on Sunday 28 March. Kick-off is at 12 noon in Castle Avenue. All support is welcome.

MRFC are having the next Super 12’s Disco on Fri 26^th of March.

Malahide U16s …22 DLSP…..10

Malahide advanced to the Quarter- Finals of the Leinster Schools Youth Cup after a stunning win over league champions DLSP at Estuary Road on Sunday 21 March. After the drama of last week’s 17-17 draw between these two sides, this game had a lot to live up to, and it didn’t disappoint, as we were served up another thunderous encounter, with the result in the balance right up until the last 5 minutes. As befitting their status as champions, DLSP clawed their way back into the game after an early score from Malahide and were always a threat, but it was the home sides greater hunger on the day that saw them through.
